Until this welcoming bar and meeting place came along, this building had stood empty for years. Owner Parel and her husband René enlisted the Borneo Island community to help raise the capital to open De Oceaan, and now it’s the beating heart of the neighbourhood – locals organise events, or spend afternoons here with their family, catching up with their neighbours over a beer.
